The charts below show the number and percentage of the sales of new cars in Australia in April in 1994, 2004 and 2014.

Most notably, there was a downward trend in the figure for saloon sales, whose proportion declined by 20% in 2014, with the figure plunging by nearly 3000. Despite the steep declines, it is also noticeable that the sales of saloons held the lion’s share throughout the period.

By stark contrast, several growths were observed in the two remainders, SUV and other types of cars, making great contributions to total sales.
