damage的用法
1. 用作名词，表示“损害”、“毁坏”等，是不可数名词。如：
The earthquake caused great damage. 这次地震造成了很大的损失。zn
The heavy rain didn’t do much damage to the crops. 这次暴风雨没有对农作物造成很大的损失。zn
【注】表示以上意义的 damage 是不可数名词，其前不能用不定冠词，也不能有复数形式。但是它若表示“价钱”或“费用”，则可以用复数形式，若表示“赔偿费”，则必须用复数形式。如：
What is the damage for it? /What are the damages for it?这要多少钱? zn
We paid 500 dollars to cover the damages. 我们付了500 美元的赔偿费。zn
2. 用作动词，表示“损害”、“损坏”，通常及物动词。如：
The bridge was badly damaged by the flood. 那座桥被洪水损坏得很严重。
Smoking will damage your health. 抽烟会损坏你的健康
The car was badly damaged when it hit the wall. 汽车撞到墙上，损失得很严重。
