As I was about to write an essay to say how it is easier to maintain health today than it was in the past, I felt wrong.
I thought of the noodles I ate yesterday at about 10 pm – not the right time for food. It was not that I was hungry or my body needed the sustenance, and instead the food program I was watching stimulated my strong craving for food. Any eating at late night is good for my health, and how many of you have such an experience, although you may crave for food and just surrender to the craving or just indulge it not because you are watching the program I was watching? If you have such an experience multiple times or probably numerous times, you may have to admit that today’s temptation of foods is so overwhelming that we are easily so dissuaded from not eating. I am prepared for the objection arguing that those of us who eat at the wrong time eat because we have weak will power to resist the temptation. Today, as food has become a popular theme of programs, on TV or online, we are constantly lured, and it is plausible that our will power is not ready for the bombardment that makes us feel ravenous and our mouth water. We open the pantry and start cooking at 10 pm or even later. My opponents may also say “Keep your pantry empty then”. It is just an absurd idea, isn’t it? Even if the pantry does not have a thing in it, there are many mighty food ordering apps on our phones, and the open-till-late (very late actually) businesses on the apps are always happy to feed us.
