From kindergarten to university, the most important person that influences us is, to great extent, the teacher. They are those who help babies to form the initial impression of the world, they are those who give teenagers the overview of the society and they are those who prepare young adults well for the future life. Among them, I regard high school teachers as the one matters most and their job should be attached to students’ current study and learning.
First of all, examination pressure was the priority for high school students. High school students are all at an important stage in which they have nothing to worry about but how to enter a prestigious university. The prerequisite of that must be the outstanding academic performance, which requires deep learning day and night. If they failed in exam courses, not only would they be unable to get the college offer, they also lose the chance for a better future. To meet the end, teachers at high school are those they would turn to once being impeded in learning.
When my friend was in high school, the knowledge of advanced mathematics imparted in textbook was so hard that he could barely comprehend. Having no one for help, he was extremely frustrated at that time until his math teacher noticed his difficulty. After that, the clear instruction from teacher, big or small facilitated him to be the top one who even got the offer from math major. Under this circumstance, hardly can one deny the significance of teachers in assisting study.
Also, the reason why the other two options are excluded is because they both have better replacement instead of being carried out by teachers. Although the previous work experience ensures the possibility for the consultation about future plan, teacher is not the most suitable person, as the whole plan should contain several aspects more than only academia. Therefore, parents knowing children better or professional career counseling sounds more reasonable. Similarly, some may ascribe high school educators cultivate children’s initiative in learning both inside and outside class. Nevertheless, what they get wrong is that the former does rely on teachers’ effort but the latter depends more even whole on students’ self-discipline. None of students who can learn independently even actively are educated or encouraged by teachers’ words.
All in all, high school teachers may play the role in three divisions, but assisting student’s work should be the most suitable and the most important job of them.
