巴黎! with Mr right! Classical music! Fancy restaurant! The pre-Raphaelites! Art gallery! Auction!
Jenny--I can think of two violins, one cello…two violas, a harp…
Tina--I don’t want to hear about ravel. I want to know what else was on the program.
Jenny--Oh, there was nothing like that. He was a perfect gentleman. He just said he wanted to
take me places and show me things.
Hettie--Things?
Tina--Plural? My God!
Miss Stubbs--I knew that “Jane Eyre” would eventually work its magic on you. I’m assuming that’s what you’re so animated about.
Jenny--Of course.
Tina--“Jane Eyre” and Jenny’s new boyfriend.
Jenny--He’s not my “new boyfriend”.
Tina--Oh, sorry. He’s more a man-friend actually.
针对雅思口语,我们可以这么做:当考官问及你的日常兴趣时,可以回答: “I do have a lot of hobbies actually, but I’m going to leave all the ravel and talk about my favourite…”
Teacher—Test results for the Virgil translation. We’ll start from the bottom. Patricia. Absent. Margaret. 48%. Jenny. 52%. That would just about scrape a pass in the exam proper. Not good enough for Oxford candidates.
Jenny—(sign)…
We don't have much money but we scrape along somehow.(虽然我们没多少钱,但是还可以过得下去)I'll try to scrape a team together for tomorrow's game.(我设法拼凑一个球队参加明天的比赛)
David—Have you ever come across Clive Lewis?
Jenny—Dad’s never come across anyone.
David—He wrote a children’s book called… “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe” that did very well, I believe.
Jenny’s Mother—C. S. Lewis?
David—Well, to us he was just the old codger who taught Medieval Literature. But I came to know him very well. We just… got along.
Jenny’s Mother—Jenny used to devour those books.
Jenny—I’d love to meet him.
