Sherlock Holmes' star Benedict Cumberbatch has split from his actress girlfriend after more than ten years together.

扮演夏洛克·福尔摩斯的演员本尼迪特·康伯巴奇和女友相恋十多年，以分手告终。

The 34-year-old actor, who is currently bringing hit director Danny Boyle's sell-out Frankenstein to life at the National Theatre, has not been able to rekindle his long-term romance with Olivia Poulet.

这位34岁的男演员，最近正在国家剧院演出名导丹尼·波尔的热卖剧《弗兰肯斯坦》，他和相处已久的女友奥利维亚·普蕾特已经无法重燃爱火了。

The couple met at Manchester University while students. It is believed to be an amicable parting.

Friends of the couple are saddened but not surprised by the separation. ‘They were together such a long time but it just wasn’t working any more,’ says a source.

Only months ago Old Harrovian Cumberbatch spoke of how he wanted children with actress Olivia. ‘I have been broody for five years,’ he said.

Olivia, who has appeared in shows Outnumbered and The Bill is a cast favourite on TV's biting political satire The Thick Of It and starred in the movie version, In The Loop.

The actor's family ambitions however, will have to be put on hold as he is set to star in John Le Carre’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy with Colin Firth later this year.

不过本尼迪特的家庭梦想还得再搁置一阵，因为他今年晚些时候还要和科林·菲斯一起出演约翰·勒卡雷的《锅匠，裁缝，士兵，间谍》。

His publicist Karon Maskill says of the pair, who lived together in Hampstead, North London: ‘It was an amicable split.’

说起曾经住在伦敦北部汉普斯特德的这一对，本尼迪特的发言人凯伦说：“他们是和平分手的。”
