雅思大作文示范写作

  范文及解析

  Introduction

  A thriving career is defined by opportunities for advancement and increasing earning potential, in contrast to a job that merely pays the bills. As a rule of thumb, those who aspire to be in the dream job should enroll in a four-year program instead of starting their careers right out of high school.

  解析

  本段译文(translation):

  一个繁荣的职业是由晋升的机会和增加收入的潜力来定义的,而不是仅仅支付账单的工作。根据经验法则,那些渴望找到理想工作的人应该参加四年的课程,而不是高中毕业就开始自己的职业生涯。

  不太常见的词汇(less common lexical items):

  ❖thriving 繁荣的

  ❖defined by 由什么定义

  ❖earning potential 收入潜力

  ❖pays the bills 付账单

  ❖ enroll in 录取

  ❖ rule of thumb 经验法则,拇指规则

  Body paragraph 1

  At first glance, having a four-year college degree is a proxy for proficiency in STEM and health-related domains; a deprivation of the hard-earnt diploma explicitly keeps job offers at bay. Another rationale relates to multi-interdisciplinary studies that prevail in contemporary universities. For example, combination of digital marketing and cognitive studies could ultimately boost graduates’ understanding about potential consumers, while juggling between environmental science and business could augment one’s environmental consciousness when making corporate dividends. Finally, academic frameworks in college make it more possible for employees-to-be to be equipped with evidence-based analyzing skills, negotiating skills and research abilities. These calibers could increase one’s odds of navigating uncharted territory in future career.

  ❖ keep … at bay 难以获得

  Body paragraph 2

  Although the benefits of attending universities sound plausible, we cannot ignore that the so-called proxy for elite education has been a threshold for entry-level posts in many mammoth corporations, which prefers a budget-saving route by offering training and education programs to degree-less workers. Worse, error-free automation not only trimmed many labor-oriented operation workers, but also creativity-oriented posts like editors and directors. This shrinking labor need bodes ill for those who spent four years in a certain field, which further explains the growing disenchantment with the higher education system. There is, though, another side of the story; a pronounced rise is shown in vacancies of middle-skill jobs, ranging from sales representatives and clerks to inspectors and construction workers. Being a synonym for middle-class lifestyle, these middle-skill jobs are embraced and pursued by many 18-year-olds who wish to settle down as soon as possible.

  ❖ synonym for 同义词

  ❖ embraced 拥抱/接受

  ❖ settle down 建立家庭

  Conclusion

  In essence, it is too naïve and narrow-minded to have a universally-standardized paradigm of a booming career; the dreadful return of lofty qualifications could worry flabby young people who dismiss personal talents and shifting employment landscape in defining career.
