make up作为动词词组有“构成、凑足”的意思，以“make-up”为定语的make-up workday就是“补班”。
举个例子：
we have to have a make-up workday this Sunday.
我们必须在这个周日补班。
既然有补班，可想而知也有补假。不过，补假可不是make-up holiday哦，而是compensatory leave。
compensatory leave还有“带薪休假”的意思。当然，“带薪休假”还有一个更简单的表达：paid vacation。
