His trek had been long, but Dr.Moren knew that it was a trifle compared to what he had originally faced:death for treason. He had been caught stealing money from the treasury of a powerful tribe of headhunters he had befriended. After pulling the trigger of his gun to scare them away he had escaped their paradise in the tropics to traverse the mountains back to civilization. He had trotted quickly at first, but he had not been on the trot for long when he had to begin trudging up the steep slopes of the mountains he had to cross.

Now that he was over the mountains he had found a broken down trolley dumped in a remote area,he hoped that he was getting close to home.It might have seemed trivial, but it was the first sign of hope for him in a long time.He climbed in over broken tread to see if the radio transmitter was still working. It wasn't.

As he stepped back out he was surrounded by Indians holding triple pointed spears. He lifted his hand and hoped that they wouldn't demand his head as a trophy.Maybe he could offer the gold from the other tribe instead as a tribute? They didn't want either and the tears began to trickle down his face when he realized that they were going to kill him and bury him in the trench they were now forcing him to dig.

His adventures were over.He had learned that a westerner shouldn't trifle with transplanting himself into strange jungles filled with murderous savages. It was too bad he would never be able to tell anyone.
