范文及解析
Introduction
In this day and age, being overwhelmed by ferocious competition in contemporary society, young people are expected to be either highly educated or of strong practical ability. Accordingly, some people may advocate that students in secondary schools should enjoy the chance to choose academic courses as a midwife to further their study in university or certain practical curriculum for employment security. I am all for accepting such a proposal.

这次的大作文虽然从某种意义上来讲是一道新题,但是整体的难度并不大,考点是关于教育内容,可以简单理解为中学生是否可以在中学阶段读职业相关课程便于将来就业或者专注于学术相关课程从而进一步读大学研究深造;注意题目中的secondary schools 与high schools只是英式与美式的表达习惯差异,并不是分别指代初高中,所以不需要在题目中进行初高中分类讨论;
Ø overwhelm v.打倒;压垮;
Ø ferocious adj.猛烈的;激烈的;
Ø midwife n.促成者;促成因素;
Ø further v.促进;推进;
Body 1
A persuasive argument in its favor is the tangible boons such a practice brings for students. In terms of students who enjoy gaining knowledge for its own sake, they are supposed to be encouraged to plough into academic courses, with which they are more likely to be enrolled by a renowned university, thus making amazing accomplishment in academic researches. For those who are furnished with outstanding hands-on skills, rather than being trapped in a compulsive academic course system, it is better for them to zero in on courses concerning practical skills, be it plumbing, carpentry, or mechanics. Only by doing so can they give full play to their potentials and secure themselves a satisfactory position in the future job market.
解析
对理论知识感兴趣的学生应该被鼓励多去钻研学术类课程,这样一来可以有利于毕业后继续接受高等教育从而在学术研究领域作出突出贡献;动手能力好的学生可以选择一些实践类课程成为技能型人才,充分发挥他们自己的潜能保证毕业后可以直接找到一份满意的工作;
Ø tangible adj.可触及的;真实的
Ø boons n. 利益;好处
Ø for its own sake 出于...本身
Ø plough into v.投入;
Ø accomplishment n.成绩;成就;
Ø be furnished with v.具有;配备有;
Ø zero in on v.向...集中注意力;注重
Ø give full play to v.充分发挥
Body 2
Additionally, such an education system ,beyond all doubt, better meets the social needs. To drive a country, not only are people who are fully developed and with higher education in desperate need to make breakthrough in theoretical study, but also the seasoned technical talents play an indispensable role in certain fields ranging from manufacturing industry to agriculture. With blind pursuit for tertiary education, the number of job seekers relevant to some occupations such as lawyers, doctors or accountants will balloon. Consequently, job hunting, in all likelihood, will be a headache for college students and unemployment rate in the whole society is bound to surge to an unprecedented level.
解析
这样做也能更好地满足社会的需求;社会的发展不仅需要理论研究型人才,同时也离不开尖端技术型人才;一味盲目追求高等教育不仅会让学生毕业很难找到工作同时社会的失业率也会上升到前所未有的高度;
Ø in desperate need 迫切需要
Ø seasoned adj.老练的;富有经验的;
Ø indispensable adj.不可或缺的;
Ø in all likelihood 极有可能;十有八九;
Ø be bound to 一定会
Ø unprecedented adj.前所未有的
Conclusion
In a nutshell, students, enjoying the freedom to opt for courses they are fond of and apt at, are recommended to make conscious and wise choices under guidance from their parents and teachers.
解析
重申观点;学生应该被允许去选择自己喜欢以及擅长的领域学习,但是最好结合父母和老师的合理建议.
